EDUCATION AND FAMILY VALUES

Preserving Family Values in Education and Culture

Our society’s strength is fundamentally dependent on the stability of its families. Recognising this, Sarah aims to pass family-oriented legislation in order to address contemporary sociocultural and educational challenges that harm the family unit and family values.

Sarah has introduced various bills to defend family integrity and children’s rights. The Education and Children’s Services (Parental Primacy) Amendment Bill 2024 is a significant piece of legislation that aims to give parents more control over the education their children receive on issues of morality, ethics, politics, social values, personal wellbeing, and identity, including gender and sexuality. Other measures include the Parental Alienating Behaviours Bill, which aims to address and mitigate harmful behaviours in family separations, and the Loss of Foetus Bill, which seeks justice for in-utero babies lost due to criminal acts.

In an effort to criminalise the act of purposefully, and maliciously alienating a child from their parents or other carers, Sarah called for the “Commission of Inquiry (Parental Alienating Behaviours) Bill 2023”. This inquiry was in response to the numerous reports of alienated parents and guardians whose children were taken from their care without proper investigation by the state. Furthermore, the negative effects of parental alienation on children cannot be overstated, with research indicating that it causes a myriad of personality disorders, which can include autism.

Outside of Parliament, Sarah is a leading advocate for research initiatives that preserve and improve family life. This includes obtaining significant funds for research into childhood dementia, a dreadful disease that has a tremendous impact on children and their families.

Zoe's Law

ZOE'S LAW

The Hon. Sarah Game introduced the Statutes Amendment (Loss of Foetus) Bill 2022 to ensure justice for families who lose an in-utero baby due to criminal acts. This legislation recognises the profound grief and loss experienced, which was previously only seen as an injury to the mother. The bill aims to amend existing laws to include the loss of a foetus in criminal offences and allow family members to contribute to victim impact statements. It also facilitates submissions to the Victims of Crime Fund for such losses. This move is crucial for South Australian families and a step further in recognising the rights of humans in the womb.

Parental Primacy Bill - Andrew Bolt Show

PARENTAL PRIMACY BILL

The Hon. Sarah Game will introduce the Education and Children’s Services (Parental Primacy) Amendment Bill 2024, which will give parents more control over their children’s education in morals, ethics, politics, social values, personal wellbeing, and identity. The bill establishes “parental primacy,” mandating schools to uphold the values of parents and refrain from promoting gender fluidity. It limits ideological indoctrination in government schools, encouraging a neutral, nonpartisan approach while exempting religious and cultural activities.
