REDUCE THE COST OF LIVING

Ensuring Opportunity Affordability for South Australians

The rising cost of living is becoming a serious issue for many Australians; the lucky country is undoubtedly experiencing the effects of global inflation, reducing their capacity to buy housing and basic necessities. To alleviate this burden, Sarah has advocated for broad legislative changes that make homeownership and daily living more affordable.

Prior to the Labor government’s waiver of stamp duty for first-time home buyers, Sarah advocated for sweeping changes in how residential stamp duty worked. Sarah’s proposes that reductions and exemptions apply not only to first-time home buyers of new homes but also to first-time home buyers of existing buildings and those downsizing. Sarah’s expanded perspective on the reform of residential stamp duty benefits a greater number of South Australian first-time house buyers, and she will continue to fight for this version.

Lowering energy costs is a catalyst for lowering the cost of living; Sarah’s approach to energy, is pragmatic and evidence based. Sarah seeks tangible solutions that will reduce energy costs for all South Australian citizens but also provide reliable and sustainable energy. Sarah is opposed to any destructive CO2 legislation that would affect farmers and agriculture and is vehemently opposed to any laws that will force farmers off their land or out of business. If the pipe dream of nett zero is allowed to continue unchecked, Sarah believes it will only have adverse impacts on both present and future generations.

The Hon. Sarah Game is in favour of a more comprehensive overhaul of residential stamp duty that incorporates specific exclusions and reductions for first-time homebuyers and those wishing to downsize. Sarah’s version of stamp duty exemptions will apply to first-time home buyers of new and existing homes, making homeownership more accessible to all South Australians.
