SUPPORTING VETERAN WELLBEING

Supporting Those Who Have Given the Most

Recognising the vast challenges that our veterans face, we are dedicated to advocating for their specific needs and ensuring their well-being.

In 2022, approximately 6,000 veterans were facing insecure housing or homelessness, with a staggering 73% reporting problems with mental health within their first year of discharge. This is an unacceptable situation for our veterans, and more has to be done to support them.

Our advocacy for veterans includes securing safe and stable housing, enhancing community connections, ensure services for their mental health are available and providing financial security through improved employment opportunities. We also advocate for timely access to affordable mental health care and robust support for veteran-specific assistance through a range of different services.

By emphasising the needs of veterans in South Australia, we hope to reduce the backlog of aid requests, improve mental health services for veterans, and enable smooth transitions into civilian life. The well-being of those who have served our country cannot be forgotten, and we will continue to call on the government to provide the care and resources that our veterans rightfully deserve.

Our Impacts and Our Goals

The Hon. Sarah Game secured $75,000 government grant for “The Garden of Remembrance”. One of the three cemeteries managed by the Returned & Services League of Australia . This government grant will ensure that the resting place for over 500 veterans is preserved and well kept.

The well-being of those who have served our country cannot be forgotten, and we will continue to call on the government to provide the care and resources that our veterans rightfully deserve.
